Laurie Foster attended Jamaica College between 1954 and 1961 and during that period was exposed to the full diet of sporting activities, more so from the spectator angle. This has created and nurtured an early passion for sports which has taken him through umpiring and scoring at cricket, appreciating talent and application in football and ultimately being a part of Jamaica's outstanding achievements in track and field. He was deeply involved in sponsoring a number of Jamaica's young athletes during the period 1988/1995 and many a subsequent medalist would have benefited from this support. As a journalist, he has reported for IRIE FM Radio from numerous elite track and field championships from the USA, Canada, Europe and Asia and was a member of Jamaica's press corps covering the inaugural West Indies cricket tour to South Africa in 1998/1999. He has developed an appreciation for track and field and respect for its worldwide impact in recent times that has led to the founding of the website, Trackalerts.com. This has been a major source of information on the sport and it has excited the interest of lovers of the sport from all corners of the world.
